History Development

The history and development of TW AUDiO is very closely connected with the know-how and experience of the founder of the company, Tobias Wüstner. When he was sixteen, the doors to a new world were opened up for him by a key experience: during a concert of his two older brothers, he had his first opportunity to join in on the mixing desk. He was fascinated by how professional, public-address loudspeakers can convey the music, making it something that can be felt and experienced physically. He began to listen deliberately, to learn how to understand and experience the music. In the middle of the 90s, after several years as a drummer and sound technician, with countless jobs in every kind of music, Tobias Wüstner began to work professionally as a loudspeaker developer. He came up with almost the complete product range of the brand Concert Audio and – with a lot of personal commitment – achieved an excellent standing on the market. He has been on the road all over Europe as a PA system engineer, and installed and looked after concerts by the Backstreetboys, David Bowie, Simply Red, Phil Collins, PUR and many other big-name, national and international artists. At the beginning of 2004, Tobias Wüstner decided to develop professional loudspeaker systems under his personal direction, and to apply the experience gained from countless events, in a decade in the rental and tour business. His constantly growing personal requirements regarding the quality of loudspeaker systems, his contacts to the industry, which have grown over the decades, and the industry’s reception of the products he has developed to date have encouraged him in this. TW AUDiO was born. TW AUDiO now not only operates successfully on the German market, but also supplies neighbouring countries such as Holland, Switzerland and Austria, and countries outside Europe. The quality and sound of the TW AUDiO range is also appreciated in China, Korea and Qatar. Increasing interest and inquiries from many countries show that TW AUDiO can also impress on international stages.

Philosophy

Our Philosophy - "Energetic Sound Solutions"

Ideas for new products and further developments by TW AUDiO arise from intensive and constant communication with rental and installation companies, technicians and bands. An attentive ear for their challenges, wishes and experiences gives us the impetus for the development of our PA solutions - the speakers from TW AUDiO - what we call “energetic sound solutions”. The requirements for loudspeakers have risen enormously over the past few years as regards weight, size, power, handling, accessories, scalability and flexibility, and of course the sound. All of these are now equal influencing factors needing to be taken into account. Our attention to these factors, which is reflected in all TW AUDiO products, ensures the “timelessness” of our loudspeaker systems. The TW AUDiO Range: What do demanding users now expect of professional PA technology and what will they expect tomorrow? Our current product range comprises a series of special and excellent individual components, as well as complete public address systems and intelligent accessories. Always combined with the TW AUDiO system philosophy. With this range we are offering an optimal solution for many users and tasks – tailor-made to numerous needs and requirements. Those who are interested and readers who do not yet find quite what they are looking for on the following pages are assured that we are constantly working on new, innovative products, from small to large, and will be continuing to cause a sensation…

The TW AUDiO Promise:

What is behind our trademark? Our passion for innovative technology and impressive products drives us on: we have a background of practical experience and practical use is what we develop for. Our team applies personal experience from more than 20 years in the rental and tour business to the benefit of our customers. We create lasting value. This is what all TW AUDiO products, our founder Tobias Wüstner, and every single TW AUDiO employee stand for. In this spirit, look through the following pages and form your own personal impression of TW AUDiO – of our idea, our range and our promise.

NEWS

It’s certainly not down to Marta Jandova that the German women’s team were knocked out in the World Cup quarter final against Japan. "Sister Hit The Goal", the official World Cup song, was sung by her. For many years Marta has been the charismatic frontwoman of Die Happy. In the second weekend in July, the first ‘Rock Your Summer’ festival took place in Rangendingen, featuring performances by, among others, Die Happy and Luxuslärm. For the front sound system in the 30 x 50m tent, the technical service provider DWS-Showtechnik used a TW AUDiO system comprising 2 x 12 VERA10, 2 x 4 L24 and 6 x BSX with 2 x M12 as infill. On the stage, besides the M15 and B30, the new C15 monitors from the zero series were also used. All the front and monitor speakers were powered from 19 POWERSOFT K3DSP amps, which were controlled and monitored via ethernet and ARMONIA remote software. The PA system was measured and optimised using SMAART v.7. Die Happy FoH man Ingo Thürauf mixed an impressive, direct sound and was impressed by the performance of the VERA10 system: ‘Our programme is fairly dense and not exactly tame, which demands quite a lot from the PA. I’m really used to more ‘high calibre’ equipment, but this compact system did a very good job here and did what I wanted it to.’ The promoter was completely happy too, so we can already look forward to ‘Rock Your Summer 2012’.

The first practical applications of the C15!

Who does not know it – that hit by the Rodgau Monotones from the 80s – "Die Hesse komme!" (‘The Hessians are coming!’). Even now it is obligatory on every German party compilation. And live, the Rodgau Monotones really have been at home on the stage since 1977 and are still something quite special. On 18 June 2011 the Rodgau Monotones and Henning Nachtsheim were guests in Dortelweil near Bad Vilbel. They used the TW AUDiO Vera10 Line Array System in the front with 2 x 8 elements. Plus 12 B30 subwoofers as a cardioid sub-array, and two BSX subwoofers in the centre, controlled in endfire mode. Monitoring was done with 8 M15, 2 B15 and the new TW AUDiO C15 Coax Monitor. The Rodgaus are a classic rock band, so playing at high volume on stage is a requirement. A demanding task for any monitor. This task was carried off by the C15 to rave reviews: "Extraordinary punch in the monitor mix, while maintaining fidelity." The C15 might have had a rather long development stage, but the results in live tests show that it has been worth waiting for. We would like to thank the Rodgau Monotones and their technicians for the opportunity to test the C15 under live conditions and for a successful collaboration.

31.01.2011 TW AUDiO Demo Day Munich, 19 January 2011

1. TW AUDiO Demo-Tag in München, 19.01.2011

BACKSTAGE Munich, one of the Bavarian capital city’s most renowned live music locations saw the second iteration of TW AUDiO’s Demo Day exhibition concept on 19 January 2011. As ever, TW AUDiO system demonstrations were the roadshow’s key focus.

M-SYS-TWO was the starting point, a small system whose output power and punchy bass never failed to drop audience jaws throughout the day. Next up were PA-SYS-TWO, VERA-SYS-TWO and current flagship VERA-SYS-ONE. Demonstrations were rounded off by performances from multiple VERA10 elements with L24 low-mid extenders and BSX twin 21-inch subwoofers. M-Series speakers in monitoring applications were available for testing in a separate venue. Demonstrated in paired couples, the Series’ direct, high-precision sound impressed all-comers.

TW AUDiO’s Demo Day at BACKSTAGE Munich featured our familiar range of co-exhibitors showcasing their products. Audio Technica featured the Artist Series microphone range while Allen&Heath showed ilive consoles and a finalised version of ilive for iPad remote control software as well as Wysicom wireless systems. Heim Lichttechnik gave action demos of Guil mixer stands and lifts. Laauser& Vohl presented Powersoft K and all-new M series amplifiers with new ARMONIA remote control software.
New for Munich was exhibitor Rational Acoustics, complimenting the exhibition line-up with well-known Smaart 7 sound system measurement software. Due to huge interest TW AUDiO will soon be offering a Smaart 7 clinic in co-operation with Rational Acoustics at our training facilities in Ludwigsburg.

To find out more, please read our newsletter and/or check our website for news.

Once again, we would like to thank Demo Day visitors for their keen interest and wealth of valuable input, which we greatly appreciate. The next opportunity to check out and compare TW AUDiO systems will be at prolight+sound in Frankfurt from 6 to 9 April 2011. We would be delighted to welcome you on stand A16, Hall 8.0, or outside at the Concert Sound Arena.

05.01.2011 Dance Sensation - Live Drumming vs. House DJ

Dance Sensation - Live Drumming vs. House DJ

Hollabrunn near Vienna was the location for „DANCE SENSATION“, an end-of-2010 musical event for fans of dancefloor and house music.

Main acts were DJ FEDDE LE GRAND and Live Drumming/House DJ Kombi Act as well as German acts Die Atzen, Skero and various vocal performers.

The event featured two locations, one with a capacity of 5,000, the other with space for 800 people.

Main floor PA consisted of 12 VERA10 per side as well as 4 bass stacks with 1 BSX and 4 horizontally stacked S30 each. Two additional stacks with 1 BSX and 2 S30 each were positioned at the side of the stage to increase the angle of bass coverage. A total of 6 BSX and 20 S30 were used. BSX were run in Infra Mode (27 – 66 Hz) and augmented the 20 S30’s output perfectly. S30 and BSX together provide controlled punch paired with powerful deep bass.

Those twin arrays of 12 VERA10 per side were enough to give mid-high coverage for the entire hall. The top 3 elements were used to PA the 4 meter high VIP balcony 45 meters away opposite the stage. The remaining 9 elements covered everything from the front of stage to the balcony over a range of about 40 meters. The 2 bottom elements of each side were fitted with 120 degree horns which provided homogenous frequency characteristics at a wide angle for the front rows. The array curving was quickly calculated using EASE Focus software.

Two stacks of 3 S15 with an M15 full-range speaker on top provided ample DJ monitoring, as evidenced by the enthusiastic grins on DJs’ faces.

The second floor saw use of 2 T24 and 4 S30 subwoofers per side. Monitoring for singers and hip hop performers was by trusty M12 full-range speakers.

All speakers were powered by POWERSOFT K3DSP amplifiers.

The final sound-check one day before the event made sure neither the event’s organizers nor any of the performers were left in any doubt about the quality of the systems provided. Both systems’ punch was mighty. Particularly impressive was how great S30 and BSX subwoofers work in combination, BSX’s 21-inch speakers keeping up effortlessly even with the fastest bass-lines.

Cardidoid bass arrays were considered during the event’s planning phase, mainly because there was a mere 1.5 meters distance between one subwoofer stack and the live drummer’s bass drum microphone. However, the stage’s construction would not have provided enough space to fit an end-fired constellation beneath it. As it turned out, such efforts would have been unnecessary anyhow. Subwoofers did not cause feedback even with extreme bass drum and stand tom levels.

2011 will see this beautiful event’s next iteration in Hollabrunn just outside Vienna.

01.12.2010 TW AUDiO Demo Day Berlin, 24 November 2010

TW AUDiO Demo-Tag, Berlin am 24.11.2010 bei Black Box Music

24 November 2010 saw the first TW AUDiO Demo Day in Berlin at Black Box Music. Three demonstration blocks spread over the day showcased the entire loudspeaker range. Demos started with M-SYS-TWO, the smallest system featuring M8 and B15 and were then followed by PA-SYS-TWO, VERA-SYS-TWO and VERA-SYS-ONE presentations. VERA10 with L24 low-mid extenders as well as newly – developed BSX providing infra bass support rounded out the showcase.

TW AUDiO was joined by several co – exhibitors presenting their products and offering clinics explaining their products’ capabilities in detail. Audio Technica Distribution showcased their range of microphones. Allen&Heath presented the ilive console and Wysicom wireless communication systems. Heim Lichttechnik demonstrated Guil mixer stands and lifts. Laauser & Vohl showcased Powersoft K- Series amplifiers with new ARMONIA remote control software.

Speaking of ARMONIA: all Demo Day systems were controlled using this software. ARMONIA offers extensive remote control capabilities, allowing users to control their systems from a front – of – house position. We will be explaining details, upgrade / adaptation possibilities and requirements shortly on our site and the TW AUDiO Community.

Back at the Demo Day, participants had ample opportunity to get “hands-on” with our products and interact with our product specialists. Culinary comforts were provided by the excellent Black Box Music catering team. We would like to thank the many visitors who took this opportunity for a meeting of minds, exchanging thoughts and ideas and inspiring us with your input.

A further big “thank you” goes to the Black Box Music team for their enthusiastic, well-organised support.

We will continue refining the exhibition concept and present its next iteration on 19 January 2011 at BACKSTAGE, Munich.
